NIDA graduate Ian Stenlake is one of the most sought after performers in Australian film, television and theatre. Best known for his lead role in the Nine Network's Sea Patrol and five seasons of Nine's hit series, Stingers, Ian has also enjoyed an extensive Musical Theatre career having starred in the national tour of Georgy Girl, Guys & Dolls, Truth, Beauty & a Picture of You, The Pajama Game and Songs For a New World, to name a few.
Most recently Ian has performed in the national tour of Mamma Mia! the Musical for which he received a Helpmann Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical in 2018. He is a two time Green Room Award winner for his performances in They're Playing Our Song in 2004, and Oklahoma! in 2006 for which he also received a Helpmann Award nomination. Ian also received two Green Room Award nominations for his performances in Sam Mendes' production of Cabaret and the new Australian musical Eureka.
Ian's additional screen credits include Dance Academy, Children's Hospital and Murder Call. His film credits include Dingles Down Under, Diana & Me, Trapped in Space and The Godfather III, directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
Ian's friendly and relatable voice is warm and inviting. It conveys honesty and instills confidence. As an actor, he can deliver a very natural read and he takes direction well. He is not only great with straight and retail commercial jobs, but also offers corporate reads with authority, and compelling narration.
