Matt Edgerton

Matt is an award-winning Australian theatre director with a diverse body of work. Productions include contemporary and classical work across a range of forms, styles and scales, cross-cultural collaborations, work for audiences of all ages and theatre projects promoting social development in marginalised communities.

For Barking Gecko Matt has directed A Ghost In My Suitcase, My Robot, In a Dark Dark Wood, Fully Sikh (a co-production with Black Swan State Theatre) and the Shakespeare Living Lecture series. For Sport For Jove: The Tempest and Othello. For Bell Shakespeare: Such Sweet Sorrow, Macbeth Undone, Midsummer Madness, Hamlet Intensive, Trust And Betrayal. For Shaman productions: Death In Bowengabbie. For Monkey Baa: The Unknown Soldier. For Poetry In Action: The Australians, The Citizenship Test, The United Nations of Poetry, The Elements of Rhyme, The Paper Tiger and Words of War. For the the WA Academy of Performing Arts: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Measure For Measure and The Crucible.?

As a writer Matt has a number professional credits. For Bell Shakespeare: Such Sweet Sorrow, Midsummer Madnesss and Macbeth Intensive. For Poetry In Action: Words of War and The Paper Tiger. His first play, Habibti was awarded second prize in ATYP National Young Playwrights Award.
